Harvard University's Identity and Access Management Group, which is part Harvard
University Information Technology, is seeking a Senior Project Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Identity and Access Management, the
Senior Project Manager is a key role with responsibility of planning, execution, monitoring and communication for the projects within
Identity and Access Management.?
This position will work closely with clients and IT Staff to understand business requirements and design solutions. Will manage multiple projects including helping prioritize and schedule efforts; maintaining project documentation, writing user documentation and communications, designing test plans, handling escalated support issues, and at times managing third-party partner and/or vendor relationships. Works with the service desk to help them provide quality support, and help trainers to develop a curriculum. This role should provide leadership in implementing industry best practices for project management. Candidates will need to have a strong technical background that enables them to understand the architecture of our applications, judge the feasibility of proposals, diagnose issues, judge compliance with security and accessibility requirements, and to communicate with developers effectively. Ideally this candidate will have lead projects relating to identity and access management previously and thus will be familiar with the principles.
Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and
skills:
- Graduate from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree required, preferably with coursework in information systems or information technology.?
- Minimum of eight (8) years experience in a technical environment project managing the delivery of technology solutions in a client centric organization.?
- Minimum three (3) years of primary responsibility for managing client relationships
- Excellent communication skills and technical writing ability.
- Ability to synthesize business issues into technical solutions.?
- Detail-oriented and familiar with best practices for testing and product lifecycles.?
- Familiar with custom development processes as well as product implementation processes.
- Excellent relationship building skills, especially customer service skills.?
- Proficient with Microsoft Project as well as standard office tools.
In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate will have these highly desirable skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.?
- Experience working?in an academic environment preferred.?
- Communicates effectively with technical staff and non-technical staff.?
- Superb organizational skills, especially with the ability to manage and track a large number of details facts and understand how each detail fits into the "big picture".?
- Experience working with Agile project management methodologies desired.
- Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.?
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities.?
- Experience working with QA helpful.
- Experience writing functional requirements and an appreciation for structured development techniques in conjunction with software release management processes.?
- Public speaking and presentation skills.?
- Able to work effectively with internal and external constituencies in a University environment.?
- Adept at evaluating problems accurately and displaying sound judgment.?
- Must have an even disposition and be able to work effectively and politely with all people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of situations.
- Knowledge about identity and access management processes and principles preferred.
- Experience with Oracle Waveset (formerly Sun IDM) systems highly desirable.
