Blogging, signature files, social media and buying local/handmade ...

On Tuesday, I facilitated a workshop re. promoting an artisan business (on zero budget!) to four friends at the wonderful Amanda Byrne?s house just outside Gorey. Amanda (a milliner and feltmaker) and I became friends initially through facebook and met when she was one of the participants at Dawn?s first ?fantastic felt hat? workshop in April. Since then we have been in regular contact online as Amanda builds up her business Highbury Designs, we had a session earlier in the year discussing ideas for Amanda to promote her hats and felted accessories and I?m glad to say that the business is really expanding and Amanda?s customer base is building rapidly!

A selection of Amanda Byrne?s beautiful hats and felt accessories

There are all sorts of free and inexpensive ways to get your product in front of consumers, blogging, signature files, internet forums,? business cards and social media sites like facebook and Pinterest to name but a few. It?s really important too for people to realise that buying local and buying handmade really DOES make a difference to the maker, please consider this the next time you are looking for a present or gift voucher, you are really helping to keep an artist maker in business. The four friends who participated in the workshop on Tuesday are all experienced visual artists and craftspeople with interesting and beautiful work to share, making the work is the easy part but as we all know it?s vital to then let as many people as possible know what we are doing!!! Check out their new facebook pages and if you like what you see please hit their like buttons and share. In no particular order (the order everyone sat around the table in fact) I give you?Sharon, Julie, Paula and Naoimh.

Smart WiFi Toggler for Android Learns Where Your Networks Are, Toggles Wi-Fi and Data Automatically

Smart WiFi Toggler for Android Learns Where Your Networks Are, Toggles Wi-Fi and Data Automatically Android: Smart WiFi Toggler is a free utility that automatically learns where your preferred wireless networks are located, and when you approach their location, will turn on wi-fi and join those networks. When you leave GPS range, the app will turn off your phone's wi-fi radio so you don't waste battery searching for networks while you move around.

If you frequently switch between wi-fi at home or the office and 3G/4G on the go, you know it sucks to look down at your phone only to see you left wi-fi on while you're driving and your battery has suffered as a result. XDA forum member sebouh00 designed Smart WiFi Toggler to handle this problem, and once installed, the app does most of the work for you.

The app uses your phone's network location so you don't trade one battery drain (scanning for wi-fi networks) for another (scanning for GPS location), and automatically turns on and joins your preferred wi-fi networks without your intervention. The app even automatically learns where those networks are located so you don't have to program it manually.

Granted, Smart WiFi Toggler doesn't do anything that JuiceDefender or Tasker can't already do, but Smart WiFi Toggler is completely free, less complicated, and does one thing very well.

Petraeus scandal: Tampa socialite fighting back

Tampa socialite Jill Kelley is fighting back. Today, sources close to the woman who was caught in the media crossfire during the David Petraeus sex scandal have released new letters aimed at reclaiming her reputation.

In a letter released to reporters by Jill Kelley's spokesperson, Kelley's attorney goes after a New York businessman who claimed Kelley was using her connections to Petraeus to broker a deal with the South Korean government.

"It is impossible to overlook your attempt to get your '15 minutes of fame,'" attorney Abbe Lowell wrote to Adam Victor, the president and CEO of TransGas Development Systems. "?You have the right to do that to yourself, but you do not have the right to defame our client.

"This letter is notice to you that statements you have made are false and defamatory and are intended to portray Ms. Kelley in a false light," the letter continued.

Click Here to Read Past Blotter Coverage: Jill Kelley Emails Show Her Eager to Make Multi-Billion Dollar Deal

Victor has claimed that Kelley asked for $80 million in commissions to arrange a deal between Victor and the South Korean government. Kelley was an honorary consul for the Republic of South Korean.

"While it is certainly true that Ms. Kelley communicated with you about a potential business deal, it has nothing to do with General Petraeus or other military," Lowell wrote Victor.

Kelley was stripped of her ceremonial position as honorary consul for South Korea today, according to South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kyou-hyun.

"It is not suitable to the status of honorary consul that [she] sought to be involved in commercial projects and peddle influence," Kyou-hyun told South Korea's semi-official Yonhap News Agency.

The dealings between Jill Kelley and Adam Victor were detailed in a series of emails between the two made public earlier this month. The emails appeared to confirm the New York businessman's claim that Kelley wanted a huge fee for brokering a transaction with the South Korean government.

But in his letter to Victor, Lowell denies that Kelley wanted anything close to $80 million, and says the full chain of emails reveal that "it was you (Victor) who were trying to capitalize on her contacts, and not the other way around."

Kelley and Victor were introduced at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August by Kelley's friend, Tampa real estate developer Don Phillips. In an interview with ABC News, Phillips said he suggested that Kelley and Victor should meet because Kelley could help Victor land a deal for a coal gasification plant in South Korea.

Phillips claimed that Kelley said that Victor tried to "proposition" her "almost immediately," and said he had to cajole her into flying to New York for a second meeting with Victor.

After she met with Victor in New York, Phillips said, Kelley reported that she was no longer interested in pursuing the deal. According to Phillips, she said, "As a result of my personal investigations and business intelligence this is just not going anywhere, Don, and you just don't want to associate with this guy."

Victor, who denies propositioning Kelley, claimed she continued pushing for the deal after their meeting in New York. But sources close to Kelley say that telephone voice messages Victor left for Kelley reveal that he was the one who continued to seek Kelley's involvement, even after the Petraeus affair came to light.

Victor also claims that Kelley told him Petraeus arranged for her to be named honorary consul, and that she could use her connections with high-level Korean officials to help land the coal plant deal.

None of the emails that Victor showed to ABC News mention Petraeus. Kelley's friend Don Phillips told ABC News that Kelley has not "in any way tried to profit" from her relationship with Petraeus.

Sources close to Kelley also say a complaint about Kelley's former attorney was filed with the Florida Consumer Assistance Program, charging that he may have violated attorney-client privilege by holding a news conference and speaking about Kelley.

In addition, a letter from Kelley's lawyer was dispatched to the Department of Justice, asking if there will be an investigation of how his clients' names leaked to the media.

Victor told ABC News he has not yet received the letter that was released to selected reporters this evening, but after being told of its contents Victor said it appears to be a frivolous complaint.

"I don't know what they're upset about. I've said nothing derogatory about Ms. Kelley and have only told the facts as I know them, in fact much of what I've said was complimentary," Victor said.

As to charges of inappropriate behavior, Victor said he was mystified. He told ABC News he had only met Kelley in the presence of his female chief of staff and received gracious follow emails from Kelley afterwards.

Victor said he did indeed contact Kelley after the Petraeus scandal broke, but mainly to find out what was going on.

Requests for comment from the Kelleys' Florida attorney were not immediately returned.

Dark matter running out of place to hide

The hiding spots for the particles making up dark matter are narrowing, and the answer to this cosmic mystery could come within the next three or four years, scientists say.

Dark matter is an elusive substance that is invisible and almost never detected, except by its gravitational pull. Yet astronomers say it likely makes up a quarter of the entire universe and dwarfs the amount of normal matter (galaxies, stars and planets) out there in space.

Just last week, a particle physics discovery from the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland cast doubt on a theory called supersymmetry, which predicts the existence of particles that are among the leading candidates for dark matter. That finding limited the types of supersymmetric particles that can exist, but didn't take the supersymmetry explanation off the table completely.

And supersymmetric particles are just one of a number of theorized particles that might account for dark matter. Searches for these and other undiscovered particles have been under way for decades, though none have been detected so far. [Twisted Physics: 7 Mind-Blowing Findings]

  1. Space news from NBCNews.com

    1. Mars rover snaps spooky self-portraits

Science editor Alan Boyle's blog: It looks as if someone is taking portraits of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars from a few feet away ? but who's the photographer?

    2. Countdown to a total solar eclipse
    3. Light from first stars in universe spotted
    4. Spacewalkers troubleshoot leaky radiator

"I think we're looking in enough different ways that unless it's something that we just haven't thought of at all yet, it seems to me we're very likely to find it within the next decade," said Dan Bauer, a physicist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois working on one of the experiments, called CDMS.

Dark matter on the run
The leading experiments aimed at detecting dark matter are just starting to operate at sensitivity levels thought to be sufficient to detect signals from these particles, and their results should be in within about three or four years, Bauer said.

"If we don?t find it in this next round of experiments, I think everyone will be a bit discouraged," Bauer told Space.com.

To be dark matter, the potential particles must all be neutral and stable, and interact very rarely with other types of matter.

Most of these fall into a category of heavy particles called weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). WIMPs, predicted by supersymmetry, posits the existence of heavier partner particles for all the known particles in the universe with the same electric charge but different spin. [NASA's Quest for Dark Matter (Video)]

Several experiments are under way to search for WIMPs by placing large masses of material, such as xenon or germanium, deep underground and shielded by many layers of protection aiming to keep all other particles out. If any particles do make it past these barriers and collide with the atoms in the xenon or germanium, they will very likely be WIMPs, the thinking goes.

CDMS (which stands for the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search), started in a tunnel underneath Stanford University in California, and a newer, more sensitive version of the project is now under way even deeper underground in Minnesota's Soudan Mine.

Another WIMP-hunting experiment is called XENON100, the latest iteration of a search based at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory in Italy. And a new project called LUX (the Large Underground Xenon experiment) under construction at the Homestake mine in South Dakota could be a big player, too.

Having all these competing projects is ultimately necessary, if any result is to be believed.

"Most people in the field agree you're going to need to see evidence of this in more than one experiment and more than one type before everyone's convinced," Bauer said.

Other possibilities
And WIMPs aren't the only candidate particles for dark matter. Another potential solution to the problem is called the axion. This is a theorized particle that is also neutral and weakly interacting, but might lighter than WIMPs. Therefore, if axions are dark matter, there would have to be a lot more of them around.

An experiment called the Axion Dark Matter Experiment (ADMX) at the University of Washington uses a large superconducting magnet to search for these particles. So far, that search has turned up empty as well.

And an even weirder explanation for dark matter comes from the idea that there are tiny hidden dimensions wrapped up inside the known four dimensions of space-time in our universe. If that's the case, there could be accompanying particles called Kaluza?Klein particles that account for dark matter. However, these would be even harder to detect.

And it's too soon to rule out even more the unlikely sounding explanations.

"The things we thought were higher probability haven't shown up yet, so we should keep an open mind," said theoretical physicist Lance Dixon of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in California.

Keep the dark matter hope alive
Despite the difficulty of finding dark matter, whatever it is, physicists say they're not discouraged.

"I'm pretty confident that dark matter is real, and it seems attractive for it to be carried by an elementary particle, although I could think it might not be exactly that way," Dixon said. "We might not be lucky that the elementary particle that is one that is within the realm of detection."

Bauer said he's been working on CDMS for a long time, and admitted to thinking, at first, that he would have found something by now.

"I guess it?s the natural optimism of physicists to think this is something we might actually be able to find," he said. But even if his experiment never detects dark matter, that in itself tells scientists something interesting.

"It would be more exciting if we saw it than if we didn?t, but it's an important result either way," Bauer said.

Hot chocolate - Food of the gods! The soulful, superfood that's good ...

(NaturalNews) From happy childish squeals of delight during a snow storm to a cozy winter corner wrapped in the seductive lusciousness of sweet warmth, nothing touches the heart or belly like a cup of delicious hot chocolate. The food of the gods, according to ancient Mayans has recently taken center stage on the medical scene because of its amazing healing properties; making sacred chocolate one of the best loved, and most devoured superfoods on the planet. And because earth is the only place you can get chocolate, you may as well stay healthy and stick around to drink more.If you're addicted to chocolate, it's because your body knows a good thing. The healthy benefits from chocolate are derived from high levels of antioxidants that increase nitric oxide levels in the blood vessels, enhancing circulation. Additionally, chocolate reduces blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, protects the retina, enhances moods, stops coughing, increases blood flow to the brain, prevents diabetes and protects skin against UV damage. Bet you never knew eating chocolate and vegetables were both good for you when you were a kid.Natural, unsweetened and Dutch processed cocoa are both tangy, and vaguely bitter tasting; however, natural cocoa is slightly acidic. The acidity helps balance the body's pH and retain the full impact of its health benefits. Dutch processed cocoa is treated with an alkalizing agent to smooth the taste; removing the acidity. The process destroys many of the flavanols, reducing its superfood powers.Originally, ancient Olmecs and Mayans made hot chocolate by mixing ground cocoa beans with water, wine and chile pepper. Over time, sugar and milk became common additions. Today, nations around the world have their special hot chocolate mixes and you can take advantage of some of them for treating various health conditions.

Consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to help clear chest congestion or an upset stomach. A small piece of raw or candied ginger improves blood flow and circulation, calming nausea. A dash of red wine helps the heart. Antitussive properties of honey relieve a cough. Adding cinnamon and replacing sweetening with stevia helps control blood sugar. A sprig of mint or basil relieves a case of acid reflux.

There are as many hot chocolate recipes as there are hot chocolate aficionados. Adjust as you like for quantity and richness. This is a wonderful recipe for vegans or for those who prefer real cream. Makes one serving.

In a 14-16 oz. mug add two well-rounded teaspoons of cocoa powder, preferably a premium, unsweetened organic chocolate. Heat 12 oz. coconut milk. Remove from the heat just before it starts boiling and pour a very small amount into the cup, stirring with a spoon or whisk until the cocoa melts. Add the rest of the coconut milk, leaving room for additional cream. Add a pinch of sea salt to the steaming mug, one cinnamon stick, about half a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of raw vanilla powder, stevia to taste, and organic or raw heavy cream, plain or whipped.

Coconut whipped cream may be substituted and is easy to make from a chilled can of coconut cream. Or add marshmallows, nutmeg, or a tiny pinch of cayenne.

For a richer chocolate taste, substitute bittersweet, Mexican or white chocolate for the cocoa powder. Between one and a half to two ounces of chocolate makes a comparable cup of chocolat chaud.

Check the links below for various international hot chocolate recipes such as Belgian, French, Aztec, Mexican, Italian and Jamaican. Each provides its own distinctive twist.

Dedicated to my friend, Susan Weiss.

Phone-based defence from mobile malware with Norton Mobile ...

For users concerns with the rising levels of mobile malware and other threats, or those than just often lose their smartphones, Symantec has updated its Norton Mobile Security offering.
11/21/2012 11:20:00 AM By: Jeff Jedras

Phone-based defence from mobile malware with Norton Mobile Security

Smartphones and tablets are becoming increasingly prevalent in our daily lives, and study after study shows mobile threats and malware are on the rise.

Research published last week by security vendor McAfee found a significant increase in mobile malware in the third quarter, doubling over the previous quarter with the Android OS as the primary target. Yet many users lack even basic security software on their mobile devices.

Security vendor Symantec hopes to change that with an updated version of its flagship mobile offering, Norton Mobile Security. The new edition includes support for iOS devices, contacts backup and an improved user interface.

"It's no secret that people are using mobile devices more than ever in their daily lives, for everything from connecting with friends to paying for a cup of coffee," said Dave Cole, vice-president, product management with Symantec's consumer business unit, in a statement. "As we use our phones in new ways, we're also putting sensitive information at risk if the device gets lost or stolen.?

The Norton Mobile Security interface.

The latest version of Norton Mobile security includes support for multiple devices and platforms, so a consumer's Android tablets and smartphones as well as iPhones and iPads can be protected. Contacts are saved so they can be restored if the device is lost or stolen. A web-based management tool lets users management their devices from one console, and remote locate tool lets users find a lost device on a map. As well, a ?scream alarm? emits an audible alarm so consumers can quickly find their missing Android mobile device.

Available for $29.99, Norton Mobile Security supports the Android and iOS platforms.

Saturn Meets Venus in Dawn Sky This Week

For the last month or two, the planet Saturn has been on the far side of the sun, but emerges this week at dawn right next to the brilliant planet Venus.

Most of the planets appear to move from west to east against the background stars: right to left in the Northern Hemisphere and left to right in the Southern Hemisphere. Things are a little bit different when we are referring to rising planets in the dawn sky, relative to the point of sunrise.

In this case, both Venus and Saturn are on the far side of the sun, viewed from the moving planet Earth. The result is that Saturn appears to be moving away from the sun while Venus appears to be moving towards the sun. The two planets will appear to pass on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 27, when they will be separated by about the width of the moon.

On Tuesday morning, the two planets will fit within a low-power telescope field, providing a striking visual contrast. [Dazzling Venus Views from Earth (Photos)]

Venus is close to the sun and close to us, which combine to make it very bright. Saturn is far from the sun and far from Earth, combining to make it appear very dim in contrast to brilliant Venus.

Venus is a bright but featureless white gibbous shape, 87-percent illuminated, like a miniature version of the moon when it is four days past full, while Saturn is girdled by its famous rings.

Although Venus is much closer to us than Saturn, 1.4 astronomical units away (130 million miles, or 209 million kilometers), as compared to Saturn at 10.6 astronomical units (985 million miles, or 1.5 billion km), the two appear almost the same size in the telescope, because Saturn is a much larger planet than Venus.

This juxtaposition of Saturn and Venus in the sky is what astronomers call a conjunction, a fairly common event. It also forms a three-object alignment: Saturn, Venus, and Earth fall very close to a straight line.

There will be an even closer alignment of three solar system bodies on Dec. ?21 this year. This is not the alignment you may have heard of associated with the 2012 Mayan apocalypse hoax.

On Dec. 21, there will be a transit of Venus visible only from the planet Saturn. Like the transit of Venus visible from Earth earlier this year, the planet Venus will appear to cross the face of he sun, but you would have to be near Saturn to see it. This is another three-object alignment: sun, Venus, and Saturn.

There are, of course, no humans anywhere near Saturn, but there is a sophisticated probe named Cassini in orbit around Saturn, and astronomers plan to use Cassini to observe this transit.

As to that other "planetary alignment" predicted for Dec. 21, supposedly involving all 8 planets, that is quite simply impossible. In fact, all 8 planets have never aligned, not even once, in the entire 4 billion plus years that the solar system has existed.

Because the changing positions of Saturn and Venus will make an interesting dance in the predawn sky, plan on observing a few mornings before and after the date of closest approach on Nov. 27. This is an excellent photo opportunity, and we will welcome your pictures of this event.

Editor's note:?If you snap an amazing photo of Saturn and Venus, or any other night sky view, and you'd like to share for a possible story or image gallery, send images, comments and observing location information to managing editor Tariq Malik at?tmalik@space.com.

What foods are harmful to eye health | Health and Fitness Tips ...

The eyes are the window to the soul of mankind, is very important to protect the eyes. Here are several harmful eye health food.

Dessert contributing to myopia
After continuous research by a number of countries found in foods damage the eyes, the desserts are one of the most deadly food. Excessive eating dessert will encourage the development of myopia. This is because the sugar in the sweets in the metabolism of the human body needs a lot of vitamins B1, excess sugar will be a lot of lack of vitamin b1.
Therefore, in order to protect the eyes, in peacetime, it is best to eat some dessert foods, especially for people already suffering from myopia, this time should be prohibited to eat some desserts.

Garlic harmful to the eyes
Garlic has antibacterial efficacy of sterilization, but also have some preventive effect for many diseases, if eaten in moderation on the human body does have a very good role. However, if long-term excessive eating garlic, especially for people suffering from eye diseases, and often fever, there will be adverse effects.

Africa Facing Airline Boom - Ventures Africa

VENTURES AFRICA ? Africa will need 900 new airliners by 2031 as the continent?s aviation market is poised to mount, driven by the continent?s robust growth.

Vice president of sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Van Rex Gallard, said northern Africa, East Africa, South Africa and West Africa would drive this airline growth.

Speaking in Johannesburg, Gallard said: ?In North Africa, they have had some issues because of the Arab Spring and so forth. But it [growth] is coming up, it is going to continue in countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Morocco.?

?There is a solid infrastructure in those countries. They actually have access to financing and they are technologically prepared to be competitive, with mainly Europe.?

Growth in the continent?s airlines would also be driven by burgeoning consumer market, which is doubling business and leisure travel.

But the African aviation industry is tough and unforgiving, where a shoving mob of small national flag carriers and private companies struggle to compete with global airline giants that control 70 percent of air traffic to the continent.

In South Africa, the South African Airways (SAA), the country?s flagship carrier supported by the taxpayer?s money, has been accused of pushing small airlines out of business.

Critics claim that SAA is always bailed out by the taxpayer?s money when other airlines are not afforded this opportunity.

Growth in East Africa was also booming, with major industry players coming from Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda.

?Ethiopia is the second country in the world which has taken delivery of the [Boeing] 787, after the Japanese.?

He said Ethiopia had committed itself to growing the aviation sector and it viewed the industry as a tool to boost its economy.

?They have the full support of the government. Their goal is to have a very strong hub in that part of the world. The same could be said about Kenya,? Gallard said.

Employee Engagement: Strengthening Wellbeing ? Davidzinger.com

Employee Engagement: Strengths Make Me Well

The pyramid of employee engagement offers a model of the 10 blocks of employee engagement.?Here is a link to a 50 page booklet on the pyramid.?There are 10 posts in this series. To learn more with a chance to be interactive on strengths and engagement plan to attend an?educational workshop in London?on the importance of strengths for employee engagement and a fusion of the pyramid of employee engagement with a strength-based approach to work. See the workshop details at the end of this post.

Infuse your wellbeing with strengths

Martin Seligman, the former President of the American Psychological Association has made phenomenal contributions to happiness and wellbeing. His recent book, Flourish, is an examination of how we can have a positive impact on wellbeing. I believe that we must find wellbeing inside of work and that it is more integral to who we are and what we do twenty-four hours a day than only something we do after work with a period of meditation, a healthy meal, or a short jog.

Engagement and strengths are vital contributors to wellbeing. Seligman believes that the five contributors to wellbeing are positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment. These five sources of wellbeing are available to us inside of work.?In addition, strengths turbocharge these five factors. Seligman and others in the positive psychology movement have demonstrated that when we know our strengths, use our strengths on a daily basis, and leverage our strengths in the service of others we will enhance our personal wellbeing.

We will get a phenomenal return on our energy invested in well being when we attach our strengths to create positive emotions, experience engagement, participate in relationships, develop meaning, and accomplish desired goals.?Seen from a wellbeing perspective, my seven significant strengths of leading, developing others, enthusiasm, self-improvement, creativity, flexibility and empathy are good medicines for me at work.

I encourage you to work towards being well by drawing deep upon your strengths by bringing them to the daily surface of work.

'Smoked by Windows Phone' campaign stops the smack talk, asks you to 'Meet your Match'

'Smoked by Windows Phone' campaign stops the smack talk, asks you to 'Meet your Match'

The "Smoked By Windows Phone" marketing drive has seen over 250,000 head-to-head handset battles so far, with many hits for Redmond and also a few embarrassing misses. The campaign is now changing tack to embrace a slightly safer, less physical tone, under the banner of "Meet your Match." The side-by-side comparisons with rival phones will remain, but the spotlight has been broadened to cover features like camera work and sharing, among others, instead of focusing only on speed. While it's likely the offer of free phones as prizes that will light up faces in the promo vids, regardless of the strengths of the OS itself, the overall pitch certainly feels more on-point than some others we've seen.

Meet That Sales Target By Target Trafficking - Work On the Internet

When you have already joined the new generation marketing band wagon on cyber space, you expect results. You have done all the basics; employed the best ad firms, developed an attractive and alluring campaign site that projects your business in the best possible profile, and launched your company??s website into the internet media. You expected customers to pour in, and your sales to hit the zenith, but nothing seems to be happening. Business is dull as ever.

If you feel that your internet campaigner is not giving you the desired results, then it has to be because your site is not being viewed by the expected number of customers. There are a number of ways you can amend this situation. Your website may be missing, or have less than necessary search engine optimization features for your company???s ad profile being brought to the front by popular search engines like Google and Internet Explorer. This situation can be amended, and you can increase the popularity of your site, by employing website traffic optimizing firms that deal exclusively and expertly with these techniques. These firms are proficient in connecting the webmasters to the business sites through targeted website traffic, and thus increasing the viewers on your site. The more viewers visiting your site means more potential customer coverage to your business, and the more coverage you get, the more interest and popularity developed , and more sales effected.

These service providers ensure guaranteed website traffic to your sites by utilizing several aggressive and highly efficient techniques. They have already amassed a large stock of genuine email addresses from social networking sites like Facebook, twitter and Google plus, and use their time and resources for techniques like posting your ads on these social sites and also use direct email posting techniques through mail providers like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. These businesses send content from your site directly to Face book and twitter and such other networks, and ensure that your site gets enough likes or hits to develop popular interest in your offers. The more likes you get the more people get interested in your page, generating a chain of hits just out of curiosity about the site. Getting more likes from social sites like Google plus can give you the double advantage of the service provider, like in this case Google, to portray your site to the top of their search engine lists.

They help you to optimize the viewership by offering advice on how to make your site more attractive to the customer by using better graphics and catchy key words, and ensure that you keep on updating your site with the latest trends in the market and new additions to your stock and sales. They help you do away with low quality content, and ensure that your site is clean of unwanted spam material. Sites can be projected on mail providers as pop up ads too, and you have to make sure that you don???t have any harmful content or cookies attached to your ad that can cause negative impact or legal problems.

Hubble traps galactic fireflies

ScienceDaily (Nov. 19, 2012) ? Luminous galaxies glow like fireflies on a dark night in this image snapped by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The upper central galaxy in this image is a gigantic elliptical galaxy designated 4C 73.08. A prominent spiral galaxy seen from "above" shines in the lower part of the image, while examples of galaxies viewed edge-on also populate the cosmic landscape.

In the optical and near-infrared light captured to make this image, 4C 73.08 does not appear all that beastly. But when viewed in longer wavelengths the galaxy takes on a very different appearance. Dust-piercing radio waves reveal plumes emanating from the core, where a supermassive black hole spews out twin jets of material. 4C 73.08 is classified as a radio galaxy as a result of this characteristic activity in the radio part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Astronomers must study objects such as 4C 73.08 in multiple wavelengths in order to learn their true natures, just as seeing a firefly's glow would tell a scientist only so much about the insect. Observing 4C 73.08 in visible light with Hubble illuminates galactic structure as well as the ages of constituent stars, and therefore the age of the galaxy itself. 4C 73.08 is decidedly redder than the prominent, bluer spiral galaxy in this image. The elliptical galaxy's redness comes from the presence of many older, crimson stars, which shows that 4C 73.08 is older than its spiral neighbor.

The image was taken using Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 through two filters: one which captures green light, and one which captures red and near-infrared light.

Gas prices drop 7 cents over past two weeks

11 hrs.

Just in time for the four-day holiday weekend, American motorists have something to be thankful for: a drop in prices at the pump.?

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States fell during the past two weeks as demand took a hit from supply disruption after Hurricane Sandy and the loss of daylight savings time, according to a widely followed survey released on Sunday.?

Gasoline prices averaged $3.4728 per gallon on November 16, down 7.26 cents from November 2, said Trilby Lundberg, editor of the Lundberg Survey. With the most recent decline, the overall drop in gasoline prices for the past six weeks have added up to 36.47 cents per gallon.?

"U.S. crude oil prices actually rose a little in the past two weeks but the weak gasoline demand has helped pull down prices and contributed to the down trend (in gasoline prices)," Lundberg said.?

"Unless we have a significant reason for crude oil prices to rise, such as escalating conflicts in the Middle East, I do expect retail gasoline prices to continue to edge down in the near future," she added.?

The highest prices for regular gasoline recorded in the most recent survey were on Long Island, New York, at an average of $4.18 a gallon, while drivers in Memphis, Tennessee, were paying the least at $3.04 per gallon.?

Midgrade costs an average of $3.65 a gallon, and premium is $3.78.?

Diesel dipped 4 cents to $4.04 a gallon.?

The Associated Press and?Reuters?contributed to this report.?
